Additional Hope Centre Clubhouse Programs

Hope Centre Clubhouse also offers other services including a gym, a resource library, a fiction library, a games library and social recreational events.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)

ASIST is a two-day suicide intervention workshop presented by certified trainers, usually twice annually.  The ASIST workshop is designed to increase caregivers’ knowledge, comfort level and confidence in responding to a person at risk of suicide. Developed by LivingWorks Education, it is the most widely used, acclaimed and researched training of its kind in the world.

Changing Minds

Changing Minds is an innovative, multi-use, mental illness education program.  It was created to address a community need for mental health education, stigma reduction and to provide a better understanding of mental health and mental illness.

Grief After Suicide

We provide information to survivors after a completed suicide, including a Survivors of Suicide Information Kit. In addition, CMHA’s Resource library has a variety of books, videos and pamphlets that may be helpful in the aftermath of suicide.

Hope Centre Clubhouse

At the Hope Centre Clubhouse, our goal is participation, not perfection. The focus is on health, not illness; on what people can do, not what they can’t do. Hope Centre Clubhouse provides individuals with mental illness opportunities to access residential, prevocation, employment, education and social recreation programs. The Clubhouse focuses on members’ strengths, talents and abilities. It provides members with an opportunity to set and achieve goals, access support and feel valued and needed.

Hope Centre Clubhouse Primary Programs

Hope Centre Clubhouse offers skill development opportunities and support to its members through their involvement in three main components of the clubhouse:

  • Member Services
  • Career Development
  • Housekeeping/ Kitchen
I'm Thumbody Program

A program on self-esteem for the elementary classroom.

Mental Health Works

This full-day workshop is a learning experience that enables managers to deal with the complex issues of discussing mental illness with employees, separating performance issues from health issues, creating accommodation strategies that work, and avoiding discrimination and human rights violations. It is offered as a practical and interactive multi-media presentation, delivered only by CMHA-certified trainers.

Provincial Suicide Prevention Committee

This interagency working group has representation from stakeholders and regions throughout PEI. By monitoring suicide related data and exploring various suicide prevention, intervention and post-vention strategies, this committee works to reduce the suicide rate and to lessen the impact of suicide in PEI. The committee also coordinates public awareness efforts including the Annual World Suicide Prevention Day activities on September 10.

Signals of Suicide Program

A school-based suicide prevention program presented by a trained facilitator in Grade 9 classrooms throughout the province. Combining interactive learning techniques, open discussions and a short video, the one-hour session explores the topic of suicide with youth, and teaches them ways to seek help for themselves and their peers when they’re in distress. This program is funded by the PEI Department of Health and CMHA’s annual ‘Golf for Life’ Tournament.
