Women and Wellness is designed to give women a night off while increasing awareness of mental health issues and raising funds to support the work of the Canadian Mental Health Association/PEI Division. Women & Wellness grew out of one family’s loss of a son and brother by suicide and their resulting awareness of how common, yet hidden, mental illnesses continue to be.
The evening included chef-prepared finger foods, compliments of the Claddagh Room, wine, alcohol-free drinks, chocolate and music. It featured two presenters, one touched our hearts with a personal message about mental health; the second lifted our spirits with music.
On the evening of January 29, the Canadian Mental Health Association/PEI Division hosted over 300 women at their third annual Women & Wellness event. Women & Wellness was first held by CMHA in Moncton, N.B., eight years ago and this month, Atlantic Canada hosted a combined total of almost 2,000 women in five locations: Charlottetown, Moncton, Halifax, Bridgewater and Truro.
