With Hope In Mind Program

With Hope in Mind, is a provincial, family-to-family, education and support program delivered by trained family member volunteers supported by the Consumer and Family Support Program.  It is a program designed to educate and support family members of someone with a mental illness.

With Hope in Mind is a comprehensive education and support program designed specifically for family members of persons with mental illness. Courses are scheduled throughout the year in different areas across PEI and are usually held one evening a week for the duration of the program (eight weeks) from 7:00-9:00 pm. The program is delivered by Consumer and Family Support Program staff and trained family member volunteers of CMHA PEI.

Information on Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder and Additional Disorders is presented. Problem Management, Self Care, and Coping Skills are also discussed during the courses. With Hope in Mind is provided free of charge by the Canadian Mental Health Association PEI Division in partnership with Health PEI. 

Through With Hope in Mind, families and friends are offered eight sessions

  • Additional and Associated Disorder
  • Medications, Recovery, Coping Skills
  • Communications and Self-Care
  • Creative Problem Management
  • Next Steps in the Journey: Advocacy, Service Systems & Transition
