Join Us for The 7th Annual Moo Let’s Talk Event!

Take a minute to watch our friend Patrick Ledwell fill you in on this year’s campaign.  It’s going to be udderly fantastic!

The Event

Back for its 7th year, COWS and CMHA PEI invite you to celebrate the 7th Annual Moo Let’s Talk Day! Moo Let’s Talk Day has been held annually since 2018 and has prompted conversations, created awareness, and inspired generosity. To date, this event has raised over $172,000 in support of mental health services and programs offered through CMHA PEI.

The 7th annual event will take place in-store, once again at both COWS locations: COWS Creamery at 12 Milky Way, and 150 Queen Street in Downtown Charlottetown. We invite you all to come out to either location and choose your favourite COWS ice cream flavour (there are 32 in case you didn’t know). The scoops will be flying out the door and 100% of proceeds from ice cream sales that day will go directly to CMHA PEI in support of mental health programs and services.

CMHA PEI staff will be on site at both locations to distribute information on our programs and services and provide mental health support where needed. Honorary host of the event, and long-time supporter of Moo Let’s Talk, Patrick Ledwell, will be stopping by the Creamery location, and other special guests will be dropping in throughout the day! Ocean 100 will be Live On Remote at the Creamery from 2:00-6:00 pm and doing on-air interviews during that time. There will be opportunities in-store to make donations to CMHA PEI, and we will also be selling raffle tickets in-store for a chance to win a COWS Gift Bag!. Tickets will be 1 for $5, or 3 for $10. Also, don’t forget to fill out a ballot for our door prize! A $500 Gift Certificate for the Culinary Institute dining room compliments of Holland College. Follow along over on our Facebook and Instagram pages, where we will be posting, and keeping the conversation Moo-ving all day!

This event directly impacts our Suicide Prevention and Life Promotion Programming, Peer Support Program, and the Learning, Training & Support Hub’s free mental health sessions. On top of this, these funds provide CMHA PEI staff the opportunity to attend Train the Trainer sessions. These sessions offer the skills and knowledge to instruct pieces of training including, Mental Health First Aid, ASIST Training, safeTALK, and more. Once trained, our staff can then teach this critical mental health training in our Island communities to individuals, organizations, businesses, first responders, medical personnel, and others that engage with our vision of mental health for all.

JOIN US On Friday, March 22nd, from 11:00 am – 8:00 pm, “Let’s Talk Until the COWS Come Home”, enjoy some ice cream, and keep the conversation going about the importance of our mental health and well-being.

IT’S NOT JUST A FUNDRAISER!

MOO LET’S TALK is an annual fundraising event and general awareness campaign hosted by COWS Inc. Parodied after the popular Bell Let’s Talk, Moo Let’s Talk is designed to encourage people to talk about their mental health, seek help if they need it, and raise funds for mental health programs and services delivered in the province of Prince Edward Island.

Background of the Event

Moo Let’s Talk Day is an event developed from an idea presented to COWS and CMHA-PEI by a family member of Jason Driscoll. Jason was a COWS team member. He loved the job and his coworkers, many of whom became his close friends. He made a lasting impression on everyone he met and was an accomplished, loving and passionate 21-year-old with a seemingly laid-back outlook on life. However, Jason was struggling with his mental health, unknown to his family and friends. Jason died by suicide in May of 2017. His friends and family decided to share his story to encourage those experiencing mental health concerns to reach out for help.

Jason’s cousin, Meg Campbell, approached CMHA-PEI and COWS with an idea. She envisioned COWS hosting an event that would encourage people to eat ice cream, talk about mental health, and share experiences. The event would raise money to support CMHA-PEI, help support suicide prevention efforts, create a conversation around mental health and encourage people to reach out for support when they needed it.

COWS, CMHA-PEI, and Jason’s family and friends came together to host the first Moo Let’s Talk Day on March 1st, 2018. Since then, Moo Let’s Talk has become an annual event, with all proceeds from ice cream sales being donated to CMHA-PEI. Each year there are new and exciting ways to encourage everyone to keep the conversation going. To date, the campaign has raised over $172,000 in support of CMHA-PEI.
