Feb 1 – 23 Let’s Work Together and #PushForBetter Mental Health
This February, join us in the Push Up Challenge! The Canadian Mental Health Association, Prince Edward Island Division is encouraging all Islander’s to challenge themselves and each other from Feb 1 – 23 by committing to 2000 push ups (or other form of exercise). Let’s get moving in the name of improving mental health outcomes in your local community by reducing stigma, learning about mental health and raising funds for CMHA.
The challenge highlights the connection between mental health and physical health, and is using 2000 push ups as a representation of the 20% of Canadians who experience mental illness each year.
How Does it Work?
Sign Up – For the full or part challenge
You can challenge yourself to complete the full push-up target or aim for a smaller target, like 25%, 50% or 75% of the full target.
Choose Your Exercise
Alternatives like sit-ups, squats or tailored exercises are all welcome.
Participate Solo, or Make it A Team
Sign up on your own or get a group together – invite your friends, work, school, gym or sports club.
Fundraise for Your Local CMHA
You can take the challenge without fundraising and still reap all the mental health benefits of incorporating physical activity into your daily routine. OR you can add an the extra challenge of fundraising for your local CMHA Branch/Division/Region!
Either solo, in a team, or community you can set a fundraising goal, and help support mental health programs and services right here in PEI. Fundraising is optional, but it is a great way to show your support and get family, friends and members of the community involved. Your effort can make a big impact in Islanders lives by helping CMHA PEI support recovery from mental illness and fostering positive mental health outcomes within our Island communities.
