Life After Suicide Loss (LASL) Group is an 8-week, closed suicide bereavement group available to adults who have lost a loved one to suicide. The group is co-facilitated by CMHA PEI staff and includes an optional monthly support group called LASL Side-by-Side, which offers ongoing peer support. This eight-week program is offered twice a year (spring and fall) and registration is required. Our next offering will be in Charlottetown at 203 Fitzroy Street, beginning Tuesday, May 23 and running each Tuesday evening through July 11, 2023, from 6 pm – 8 pm. To register for the next Life After Suicide Loss program or to learn more about this and other support options for those impacted by suicide loss, please call us at 902-856-1169 or email [email protected]
“This program is exactly what is needed for survivors of suicide loss. In the beginning, we have the support and guidance of trained professionals. Then afterwards, through monthly group meetings, we have seasoned survivors following up with us. We can also access help from the LASL group leaders and from CMHA as needed.”
- A toolkit for people who have lost someone to suicide was designed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada.
- ‘Supporting Children and Youth to Grieve After Suicide Loss: A Resource Kit’ is available to Island families impacted by suicide loss. It is designed to help guide and support parents and caregivers to have important conversations about suicide loss with children and youth who have experienced the death of a loved one to suicide. The kit is available in two formats; in hard-copy and virtually through our website so the materials can be printed off, as needed. To learn more about the kit and how to access the materials, please click here.
- Multi-media resources relating to suicide grief are available for loan through CMHA’s local Resource Libraries.
