Summerside Spring Gala
YOU’RE INVITED TO CMHA PEI’s 9th Annual Summerside Spring Gala, proudly presented by our Signature Sponsors, Prince Edward Aqua Farms.
Join us on Saturday, May 10th at 7 PM at the Veteran’s Convention Centre (VCC) Credit Union Place, Summerside, PE. This year’s event will be hosted by Alex Clark, owner and operator of Evermoore Brewing Company. The evening will feature a performance from Island musician, Alyssa Harper. The guest speaker for the evening will be Kendal Hackett, a local mental health advocate from West Prince, PEI. Kendal will be speaking about his personal story around mental health. The event also features a catered dinner from Five Eleven West Restaurant in Summerside and an on-site silent auction!

Alex Clark is a dedicated entrepreneur and community leader from Linkletter, Prince Edward Island. Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for community values.
In 2015, Alex founded OpenEats, a bistro restaurant in Summerside. Building on that success, he launched Evermoore Brewing Company in 2018, located in the historic former railway station at 192 Water Street, Summerside. As the city’s first craft brewery, Evermoore offers unique, quality beers and a dynamic restaurant with an ever-changing menu. The establishment is also a vibrant community hub, hosting events like live music on Tuesdays, trivia nights on Thursdays, and Celtic jam sessions on Saturdays.
Beyond his business ventures, Alex has been actively involved in local politics and community development. In 2019, he ran as the Green Party representative for Egmont, with a focus on addressing climate change to protect PEI’s environment and economy. He strongly advocates for supporting small businesses and local innovators, believing that sustainable growth begins at the grassroots level.
Alex also serves as President of Explore Summerside, the city’s tourism organization, where he works closely with other business owners and residents to promote local attractions and foster economic development.
Through his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to community, Alex Clark continues to play a vital role in the cultural and economic life of Summerside, PEI.

Kendal was born and raised in Ascension Rd Tignish. His family is a fishing family, and he fishes lobster with his father in Sea Cow Pond. Kendal married the love of his life, Paige and has three beautiful children. He currently resides in Cascumpec, PEI.
Kendal’s mental health struggle started when he was a teenager. After several years, he was diagnosed with aggressive OCD and severe anxiety. His story is one of strength, resilience and growth. He has started a personal journey of mental health awareness. He wants to educate people to break the stigma by telling the cold, hard truth. Alyssa Harper hails from Alberton, PE. As a singer/songwriter, her powerful, strong and commanding voice has led several bands; whether it’s for live performances or as a vocalist in the studio, she is consistently sought out as a special guest. With her large range, control and depth, her voice is easily recognizable and beautifully lends itself well to her traditional roots and to her passion for rock ’n roll. On stage, this raven-haired songstress manages to bring the same intensity to an intimate acoustic show as she does to a rock festival; she commands the stage with grace, gratitude and grit.
